Blowin' In The Wind

Hi Level10 family & friends,

Looking out of the window at a very wet, blustery, miserable November weekend I observe typical Autumnal weather. Seeing hundreds of golden bronze leaves fluttering down from our beech tree and being blown by the wind in various directions in the garden, I watch as they all fall eventually to their final destination to form a dense carpet on the ground below.

Each leaf, once having been so vital to the beech tree’s glory, once so green, so vibrant now yields and let’s go to be picked up by the wind and blown to an unknown place to die in the ground. But this is not the end but a new beginning as the leaves decompose to enrich the soil forming leaf mould so beneficial in fertilising what will follow after.

Contemplating my letters to you, my church family and friends, I saw such a resemblance to the 26 letters of the alphabet which, when thrown into the wind, can flutter and fall capable of becoming a thousand words – or maybe I pray a sentence that brings some life and encouragement!

I am encouraged when God said His word would go forth and achieve! It would not go out in vain and be forgotten!

In 1962 Bob Dylan wrote a song entitled “Blowin’ in the Wind” where he declares that, in all life’s issues, “the answer my friend is blowin’ in the wind, the answer is blowin’ in the wind”!

Certainly as followers of Jesus Christ we would say ‘yes indeed!’ when we observe from the scriptures in Acts chapter 2 that the empowerment the disciples received as the Holy Spirit fell upon them like a rushing mighty wind, truly was ‘the answer’ for them, and also for us! Yes, He has promised that this will be so true for us also!

It’s in us, being prepared to let go and allow the Holy Spirit to take us to the place where we die to self, that we can become alive in Him being enriched and fruitful.

We have ‘the answer’, Jesus is indeed

the hope of the world,

the light in the darkness,

the forgiver of sin,

the joy of the world.

As a church, as we continue to study the Acts of the Holy Spirit (the book of Acts), let’s be strongly focussed and desirous to know our God in all His fullness.

May God bless and encourage us all!

Much love in Jesus
